Last year I cut back on how much time I spend on my day job to focus on spending more time doing work I love, with the hope that eventually it may turn into an income. I realise I’m extremely lucky to be able to do this, as my day job does pay very generously for a part time role (and which I do actually enjoy), but I’ve still had to make quite a lot of spending sacrifices and I’ve made sure I have a bit of a buffer saved up for unexpected expenses.
It’s starting to look a bit like I’m obsessed with alcohol… (who me?!) These beer illustrations follow on from the cocktail illustrations I did last week. I’m not actually much of a fan of beer, though I don’t mind half a pint of Guinness now and then, or the very occasional lager on a particularly hot day.

These cocktail illustrations were inspired by a brilliant girly week away I had with some friends last week. I’m usually more of a wine girl, but it was so hot that the icy cocktails were really hitting the spot! We went to Lanzarote and, although it turns out it was just as hot in the UK, it was great to be able to enjoy the good weather with a pool, cocktails and no work to do 🙂 Continue reading Cocktail illustrations
These wildflower drawings were inspired by one of my walks along the canal near where I live. The weather has been so gorgeous lately and the all the different wildflowers looked so pretty in the sunshine. I decided to pick some of my favourite ones and draw them when I got home.

Today I was working on a Tower Bridge drawing and it got me thinking about when I first saw it. For those of you who don’t know, I wasn’t born in the UK. I grew up in South Africa but moved to London about 20 years ago (yep, I’m that old!) The UK felt like home almost as soon as I arrived though and I love it here.
