Valentine cards with cartoon portraits

Valentine cards have always been intriguing to me. When I was a kid there was always that anticipation that someone might fancy me enough to secretly give me a card, mixed with the slight dread that I might be the only one who wouldn’t get a Valentine… both of which happened a few times in different years. Music themed cards

Anyone who knows me knows that music is my thing! I LOVE music – and love going to gigs and festivals. So of course I’ve combined two of my favourite things – music and drawing – to create music themed cards with stick figure versions of all sorts of singers, musicians and bands.

I’ve drawn from a range of different music genres, from heavy metal to R&B and pop. I love so much different music and I’ve learned that every time I say that I love all music except a specific genre, I’ll soon come across a song from that genre that makes me a big fibber! Yes, even country music…

And I also think music is very personal. Some of the songs I’ve loved the longest and hardest may not be the most amazing or cool or groundbreaking ones, but they’ve got brilliant associations for me and I love them for the memories they bring back.

So I’ve not been snobby in my choice of artists to draw for my music themed cards – there’s a bit of all sorts. Hopefully there’s something for most music lovers! Of course if you think I’ve made a massive omission and you have a brilliant idea for a new music themed card I absolutely MUST draw, then you should definitely get in touch immediately and let me know 😃

My full range of music themed cards are now exclusively available in my online shop, unless you see me in person… Check them out now!

Mother's Day cards and gifts

Custom family portrait for Mother's Day

With Mother’s Day coming up at the end of the month (it’s on the 31st March this year), I thought I’d let you know about some of the cards and gifts I have available for mums. I feel very luck to have a mother who is also a good friend and while I know not everyone is fortunate enough to still have their mum with them, I’m very grateful that I do.

Why I love Etsy

Etsy Seller Screenshot

Long before I started selling on Etsy I’d been dabbling in all sorts of arts and crafts over the years and also had a go at selling some of them when I was making more than I could possibly use myself. I’ve sold via websites, at home parties, at small craft fairs and markets and via word of mouth and tried everything from creating mohair teddy bears and jewellery to decorating wooden products with pyrography. Most of this was just for fun and to help a hobby pay for itself and give me a bit of extra spending money while bringing up my children.

Now that my children are older (they’ll be off to uni soon – yikes!) I have less family commitments and I’ve also structured my life so that I have more time to do the things I want – like drawing 🙂 The downside is that by reducing my working hours I obviously also have less income, so to keep my lifestyle viable I’m using Etsy to sell the cards and prints I create with my drawings. Why did I choose Etsy? There are loads of reasons…

Too early for Christmas cards?

Christmas cards - stick figure family portrait

I’m one of those people who gets annoyed when the shops start stocking Christmas cards and decorations in September/October, but I’ve now joined their ranks. In my defense though, when you add items on Etsy they stick around for 4 months at a time. It seems a little pointless to add them in November and have them still there in February! I also sell a lot of custom drawn items, which obviously take a little longer to do, so I figure it can only help to offer them as early as possible to avoid it getting too frantic later on…
